Writing, duo gigging and news of excitement...
Hey Everyone, lets start with a full band video of 'Grateful Ghost' completely live at Henwood Studios...
I hope you are enjoying the last sporadic summer sunshine in preparation for autumn's arrival - a season I colour co-ordinate with extremely well.
I've been busy! After releasing the album and being bowled over by the positive reviews and responses, I decided to take some time away to get some new songs penned and take a breath or two. I travelled up to Scotland to a studio between Perth and Kinross called Tpot studios - run by the marvellous Robin who's still kicking it old school up there. It was remote, bizarre and beautiful and I was so grateful for the luxury of time and space to write, plus the grand piano and this view from the live room...
I've just returned from Whitby where Jackie Oates and I performed a gig at La Rosa Hotel - which is a truly unique, incredible place. I would highly recommend a visit. I was really taken with all of Whitby actually - everyone I have met over the last few days have been deeply interesting people with wide open minds and giant kind hearts. The material that Jackie and I are expanding on is really rewarding musically and it's been great to hang out/work together more. We are working on recording this project in the near future...
If you haven't bought the album yet then you can here - just click on whichever music selling site you prefer - iTunes, Amazon, Proper Music - or you can get them directly from my hands if you attend a real life gig. I have just updated the gig list - more to come. Lots more to come. Stay patient.
As I sit writing this, I have just been played on Radio 2's Mark Radcliffe Folk Show which makes me think I should update this part of my website more often if things like that happen. The REALLY EXCITING NEWS is that I will be doing a live session on Mark's show on September 16th - very honoured and stoked to be asked. Tune in!
Giant Love,
M x
