Arrived home at 4 am last night after driving back from Penzance after a lovely gig at The Acorn – I can still feel the Red Bull pulsing through my veins…I’m not in a fit state to write anything particularly coherent but would like to thank some people who were involved in making the South West tour so amazing – here is a list of the culprits who made it happen!

Hey! I’m releasing a new single called Television in March!
Lovely Janice is playing it on Monday night and on Wednesday I’m singing it live on Simon Mayo’s Drive Time Radio 2 show, just before the Folk Awards …. but if you can’t wait that long ….

We had a great time at the Jo Goode session on Sunday.
Here it is on iPlayer (I come in around 1′ 19″ but Maverick Sabre is on before me and he’s well worth listening to) http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/console/p00n6vwq
On Thursday I’m off to the Janice Long show to read a pasage from one of my favourite books and talk about records and other stuff with Janice … can’t wait!
I hope you all had a great time….
My first ‘appointment’ of the year was with the legendary Bob Harris, where I have recorded a live session with him. This goes out tonight on his Radio 2 show at midnight. It will then be available for a week on the BBC iPlayer. I’d love to know what you think! xx
We’ve had such a lovely response to the youtube clip that we’ve recorded it and made it available as a free download.
Download it here: http://www.musicglue.com/meganhenwood
We end the year having had four weeks on Radio 2′s playlist with Making Waves.
We start the year with a Bob Harris session then we follow that with sessions for Terry Wogan and Janice Long at Radio 2 and with Jo Good at BBC London.
Then we’ll be playing some live shows so we may be coming to a town near you! And there’s the Folk Awards. Looking forward to it all!
In the meantime we wish you a very Merry Christmas. See you in 2012.
xx
Welcome to the new Megan Henwood website.
We are still a work in progress but we are thrilled to confirm that the album recording has at last been completed.
We will now start to upload tracks to this site, and expect to release the record in early summer.
Great news! We’ve been invited back by those nice people at the Living Room stage, where Joe and I had such a great time in 2009.
It’s on Sunday July 24th.
We’re really excited! Hope to see you there!
Just confirmed the fabulous Larmer Tree and Cambridge Folk Festivals….. details to follow.
We are delighted to be able to announce the release date of the album.
On 4th July the album will be available in all good record shops (which means HMV and as many indie stores as possible), all the online stores (Amazon, Play, etc) along with all the meaningful digital stores (iTunes, Amazon, et al).
Feel free to wander into your favourite shop and order it now…..
Hi everyone…. Just to let you know we will be playing at Norden Farm in sunny Maidenhead on Friday 10th. I may even have copies of the album for sale, a month before the official release date!
Hope you can make it. Who’s coming?
Details here : Norden Farm
Well it’s been a long time coming but we’re thrilled to announce the album is released on Monday. If your local record store (if you still have such a thing) doesn’t have it they will order it for you and it should be in the next day. Alternatively you can get it at Amazon, Play, HMV and any other decent online store. If digital is your thing then it’ll be up on iTunes, Amazon et al on Monday as well.
The album is getting lots of support from the lovely people at Radio 2 – Â Bob Harris, Janice Long and Mike Harding have all been playing tracks from the album.
The single ‘Hope on the Horizon’ is officially released on July 18th and we’ve had plays from Terry Wogan and Alex Lester so far.
If you are coming along to any of the festivals bring your album along and I’ll sign  it for you.
More news as it happens!
We have a couple of London shows coming up….
the first is guest-list only, with the band, on Monday July 18th. Onstage 8.40pm.
It’s a night called “Society of the Golden Slippers” at private members’ club Black’s.
If you’re in London on Monday night, and fancy coming along, email back, as per this flyer. Guest-list places will run out pretty quickly though. (Click on the flyer for clearer details).
We’re playing at the legendary 12 Bar Club in Denmark Street, London on Thursday 28th July.
On stage at 8pm, so you can either stay and watch the other artists or go and have a swanky dinner afterwards… the choice is yours!
Either way it would be great to see you. Entry £5 on the night if you print out this flyer….
Space is limited though, but tickets can be purchased in advance and upstairs tables can be reserved by calling the Box Office on 020 7209 2248
If you are coming up to Secret Garden this weekend….
We are playing the Living Room stage/tent (which is in itself a beautiful thing) at 7.45pm on Sunday.
See you there!
Megan Henwood and her band are a musical outfit that no matter what side of the Atlantic they were performing on, would successfully gain the applause and loyalty of audiences everywhere. Their wide appeal is due in large part to Megan’s genuine likeability and honesty, which is instantly recognisable both in her writing and stage presence. The lyrical passages Megan shares with her audience – delivered in a classically informal yet informing manner – instantly resonate and are absorbed and interpreted immediately, feeling incredibly intimate at times and yet succinctly universal.
The atmosphere of the band’s live performance was one of love and kinship.  The ‘physically present’ bond that radiates between the three male band-mates and their leading lady is unmistakable. What you witness is a beautiful, rare and organic experience into the joy of music and the family (if you’re lucky enough) you find inside it, along the way.

To all my friends in the South West of England (and anyone else who fancies a day out in a beautiful city) I’m playing at the Acoustic Café, at Salisbury Arts Centre on Saturday.
It’s a beautiful place -Â an old converted church – and I’m looking forward to playing a full solo acoustic set, which I haven’t done for a while. Do come!

A bit of an update for you….. the Making Waves single is beginning to pick up play on good old Radio 2 … check my Facebook to listen to plays from Janice Long, Mike Harding, The Arts Show and Terry Wogan. Plus I am playing a couple of live sessions in the new year including Sir Bob Harris, which I’m really looking forward to. More news on those nearer the time.
The album has been getting really great reviews over here and in the US and the great thing is people seem to be buying it too
And……. I might be going to see the lovely Roger Bucknall one day soon to talk about a new FYLDE guitar!! Woo hoo!!
Looking ahead we are putting a tour together which should see me out on the road a lot more from February…
Meanwhile I’ve been doing a lot of writing for myself and for other people so hopefully I’ll be able to play you some of these new songs very soon.
Until the next time… mx
Surprised and honoured to be nominated for the Horizon Award in the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards 2012…
