Writing, duo gigging and news of excitement...

Hey Everyone, lets start with a full band video of  'Grateful Ghost' completely live at Henwood Studios...

I hope you are enjoying the last sporadic summer sunshine in preparation for autumn's arrival - a season I colour co-ordinate with extremely well.

I've been busy! After releasing the album and being bowled over by the positive reviews and responses, I decided to take some time away to get some new songs penned and take a breath or two. I travelled up to Scotland to a studio between Perth and Kinross called Tpot studios - run by the marvellous Robin who's still kicking it old school up there. It was remote, bizarre and beautiful and I was so grateful for the luxury of time and space to write, plus the grand piano and this view from the live room...

Live room view at Tpot Studios...swifts and swallows in abundance.

I've just returned from Whitby where Jackie Oates and I performed a gig at La Rosa Hotel - which is a truly unique, incredible place. I would highly recommend a visit. I was really taken with all of Whitby actually - everyone I have met over the last few days have been deeply interesting people with wide open minds and giant kind hearts. The material that Jackie and I are expanding on is really rewarding musically and it's been great to hang out/work together more. We are working on recording this project in the near future...

If you haven't bought the album yet then you can here - just click on whichever music selling site you prefer - iTunes, Amazon, Proper Music - or you can get them directly from my hands if you attend a real life gig. I have just updated the gig list - more to come. Lots more to come. Stay patient.

As I sit writing this, I have just been played on Radio 2's Mark Radcliffe Folk Show which makes me think I should update this part of my website more often if things like that happen. The REALLY EXCITING NEWS is that I will be doing a live session on Mark's show on September 16th - very honoured and stoked to be asked. Tune in!

Giant Love,

M x

I've been waiting a very, very long time to announce this news so here goes...my new album 'Head Heart Hand' will be released on Dharma Records on July 6th!

It's been a long journey - from writing the songs in my little attic room, to recording and producing it with Tom Excell and my brother at his studio, to getting it out into the world - full of learning curves, lightbulb penny drop revelations and a few 'what the f**k is happening' moments. I am so proud of what we have made, it has helped me see everything clearer and I can't wait to share it with you all in July.

'July?! Well that's months away...' I hear you cry! Don't fret, I've got it covered. Between now and the release I will be sharing some pretty special things to whet your appetites and I'll also be hitting the road on a solo tour. Even though 'Head Heart Hand' is not officially released until July, I will have exclusive physical copies with me on all the tour dates so you can purchase one to hold in your hands before it's even out yet!

I would love to see you all along the way - ticket links are below - please spread the word and help me make this one a blinder...

'This Woman's Work'

Hey Everyone,

I hope this finds you all well and happy as you look back upon the year that's nearly over.

I would like to show you this video. A few months ago I recorded a Kate Bush cover called 'This Woman's Work' at my brother's studio. The song is from a man's perspective as he is about to enter fatherhood and the fears, regrets and helplessness he is experiencing. I was driving back from the studio after the session, wondering about what we could do to get the track out there, when I heard a radio feature about the maternal mortality rate in South Sudan. The statistics are frightening. A woman in South Sudan has a 1 in 7 chance of dying during childbirth.

To cut a few months of brainstorming, planning and filming short, myself and the very talented Vic Rose ended up making this film. It features 15 gorgeous men who gave up their time and showed how brave they are (thank you to all of you). It was an emotional project to create and Vic and I are so happy with the outcome -

The track is exclusively available on iTunes and all proceeds from sales will go straight to Medicins Sans Frontieres (MSF) to their appeal in South Sudan where they are running programmes to help the death rate situation. In the last 12 months, MSF staff have assisted the delivery of over 11,000 babies and their help is ongoing.

Please buy the track, make a donation and share the video and it's message as much as you can. I know it's not a particularly Christmassy offering to you all, but perhaps it might be a refreshing resbite from sleighbells, snow and Santa? Plus, as I say, all proceeds for the track will go straight to MSF so you'll be doing something warm and charitable!

Buy the track by clicking here.

Donate directly to MSF's South Sudan Appeal here.

Once again, I want to Thank You for your ongoing patience, support and encouragement. 2015, I am coming to get you.

I wish you all an extremely Happy Christmas and a Beautiful New Year,

Megan x

New Website, New Video AND a Free Download!

Welcome to the new website! Thank you for visiting - I hope you like it...

To mark this auspicious occasion I have released a brand new video for 'Chemicals', a track from the forthcoming album 'Head Heart Hand', featuring the wonderful Jackie Oates on viola. I shot the video one night at my brother Joe's studio, it is comprised of just over 4000 photographs and 2 cans of paint. My friend Dunk Burns edited it because he is very clever. If you like it please share it far and wide...

I would also like to offer you a gift in the form of a new song, completely free for you to download - just head to www.meganhenwood.bandcamp.com and collect your free gift!

I am off down to Cornwall this weekend to play Little Big Gig - keep your eyes on the website to learn of upcoming gigs, releases, videos and other projects and you can also sign up to the mailing list too!

Big love,
